Compensation

Salary Range: $31.28 - $42.69 / hour

 

The pay range above represents the lowest possible rate for the position and the highest possible rate. Factors that may be used to determine where newly hired employees will be placed in the pay range include the employee specific skills and qualifications, relevant years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most often, a newly hired employee will be placed below the midpoint of the range.

Responsibilities

Position Overview:

Administers the Leaves of Absence (LOA) function for Community Memorial Health System.  Tracks and determines eligibility for all job protected leaves including FMLA, CFRA, PDL, ADAA, Worker’s Compensation and USERRA. 

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  1. Processes and manages all leaves of absence in compliance with CMHS policies, state and federal regulations.
  2. Handles the leave administration process from the employee’s initial notice of the need for leave to the return to work. This includes gathering and completing all required paperwork, determining leave eligibility, designating leave as FMLA/CFRA/PDL-qualifying, requesting medical certification as needed.
  3. Communicates with employees regarding their needs for leave and/or modified work schedules.
  4. Ensures that employees are aware of their responsibilities and of any documentation and notice required to qualify for and to take leave.
  5. Provides advice, training and consults with managers and employees on documents, processes, State programs, and legal requirements for leaves of absence, return to work options and the interactive process.  
  6. Troubleshoots problems, gathers information and creates documentation to assist Human Resources management and/or attorney in making decisions regarding LOA cases.
  7. Assists HR leadership in interactive process meetings with employees and managers to determine accommodation possibilities.  
  8. Work with managers to determine department needs and conduct the “undue hardship” analysis. 
  9. Notifies payroll and the Benefits Administrator of leaves of absence changes as applicable, to process State wage replacement programs, benefit deductions and COBRA documentation.
  10. Responsible for researching, make recommendations and implementing all Leaves of Absence policies and procedures, to ensure that these comply with all Federal and State laws.
  11. Maintains employee leave file with documentation of correspondences and required documents.
  12. Preserves confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files
  13. Assist in completing leave benefit documentation for employees (SDI, LTD, Supplemental insurance, etc.).
  14. Assist Employee Health with the processing Worker’s Compensation leaves of absence.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two (2) years of experience in Human Resources, specific to Leave of Absence administration
  • Knowledge of Federal and State laws including FMLA, CFRA, PDL, ADA, Worker’s Compensation and USERRA
  • General knowledge of State and Federal labor laws, including FLSA and FEHA

 

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field
  • Certification in Human Resources
