Compensation

Salary Range: $21.80 - $30.20 / hour

Pay for PRN positions is calculated differently than Full-Time, Regular Part-Time, and Part-Time positions. PRN Rates depend on the position and other factors, including years of experience, or shift commitment according to the department policy. PRN differential is added in certain positions.

 

Responsibilities

Position Overview:
The Environmental Services (EVS) Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the exterior and grounds of the hospital to ensure a safe, attractive, and welcoming environment. This position includes responsibilities such as minor landscaping, parking maintenance, painting, and power washing, along with routine facility upkeep. The Environmental Services Maintenance Technician also assists with regular EVS duties when required. A high degree of flexibility, self-motivation, and reliability is essential. The position may involve the use of power tools and requires a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Valid CA driver’s license
  • Current and ongoing Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) that is considered insurable under Community Memorial Healthcare’s insurance coverages
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in facilities maintenance, groundskeeping or janitorial work
  • Knowledge of landscaping and exterior building upkeep
  • Painting and minor repair experience
  • Experience in a healthcare environment

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Ensures parking lots and parking structure elevators are clean, safe and free from debris through regular inspections and minor repairs.
  2. Maintains hospital grounds, including trimming, minor landscaping and using power tools such as chainsaws for tree trimming or removal.
  3. Performs power washing and general cleaning of exterior surfaces, ensuring all signage, entryways and outdoor areas are free of dirt and graffiti.
  4. Conducts minor painting projects on exterior and interior surfaces and assists with minor facility repairs, including touch-ups and equipment maintenance.
  5. Assists with moving, assembling or arranging furniture as needed for events or facility reconfiguration.
  6. Operates power equipment such as leaf blowers, street sweepers and pressure washer in a safe efficient manner while adhering to all safety protocols and hospital guidelines.
  7. Coordinates with the Manager, Environmental Services, to address maintenance needs promptly and reports any issues or safety hazards immediately.
  8. Supports regular Environmental Services tasks, such as cleaning and sanitizing patient rooms and common areas, as required by hospital needs.
  9. Performs any other maintenance, environmental or grounds keeping duties as required to maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.
