Compensation

Salary Range: $63.27 - $98.24 per hour

 

The pay range above represents the lowest possible rate for the position and the highest possible rate. Factors that may be used to determine where newly hired employees will be placed in the pay range include the employee specific skills and qualifications, relevant years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most often, a newly hired employee will be placed below the midpoint of the range.

Responsibilities

The Neonatal Clinical Nurse Specialist is a graduate level, advanced practice role to integrate care across the continuum and through three spheres of influence: patient, nurse, and system.  In each of the spheres of influence, the primary goal of the CNS is continuous improvement of patient outcomes and nursing care.  The Neonatal CNS is prepared to autonomously improve the quality of neonatal health care through the processes of change, collaboration, consultation, education, modeling of expert care, leadership, case management, care coordination, and research utilization across the neonatal population continuum for neonates.  The Neonatal CNS’s collaboration with interprofessional healthcare teams and families ensures that the healthcare system is safe and promotes positive outcomes for this population (NACNS).

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and/or Post-Master’s Certificate in Clinical Nurse Specialist role option (BRN and CCS)
  • Current CA Registered Nurse License
  • Current CA Clinical Nurse Specialist-Neonatal License (BRN and CCS)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Instructor Certification (CCS)
  • Current Neonatal Clinical Nurse Specialist (ACCNS-N) Certification (BRN)
  • Three (3) years of clinical experience in NICU (CCS and BRN) 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous teaching/educational experience
  • Previous simulation lab experience
  • Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing Certification (RNC-NIC)
